AYP Committees

Make the most of your AYP Membership by getting involved in one of our sub-committees. These committees are groups of 5-10 individuals who meet outside of our normal AYP events to help plan events, welcome new members, and market AYP. Becoming a member of a sub-committee is a great way to get to know other members better, develop leadership skills, and provide your input on the future of AYP.

AYP Ambassadors
Feel like lunch on Friday? Come join the AYP Ambassadors! As a sub-committee of the membership committee you will get the chance to really get to know our members and give them a warm welcome to AYP; while also getting the chance to share your business at the same time.
This warm welcome includes contacting our newest members and welcoming them with a cup of coffee or lunch and greeting them with an AYP Welcome Packet. Also, as AYP grows we want to make sure that we still stay in touch with our on going members as well! Bottom line is, if you like getting to know the people and businesses in your community come join us!
But, if calling on new members isn't your thing please come join us in greeting our members 15 minutes before our events. We have a welcome bin set up for you at the Ankeny Chamber of Commerce to bring to the event that's full of t-shirts, sign in sheets and nametags.
The time commitment for this sub-committee is minimal and the more Ambassadors we have the less work it is! So if you enjoy getting out in the community and meeting new businesses please join us the last Friday of the month!

Events Committee
The AYP Events Committee plans and coordinates the monthly social and learning events for the group. These events are based on ideas from the members and are designed to mix socializing and networking together. Our committee works hard to provide the members with an opportunity to become more involved with AYP by getting them together in a relaxed setting.
We strive to provide our members with three activities per month:
1) A social at various Ankeny Chamber member venues, to provide members with a chance to unwind after the busy work week. These are typically held on the first Friday of every month and rotate between Happy Hour and Breakfast.
2) A learning event to provide members a chance to promote themselves and their business, or sponsor a guest speaker to talk about varying topics. These are typically held on the second Tuesday of every month and rotate between Breakfast and Lunch. Examples have been financial planning, community service events, what’s happening in Ankeny, etc.
3) A special event is also held each month. These events are meant to provide the members with a chance to socialize and network with their peers. Typically held on the third Thursday of the month, these events have included the AYP Annual Tailgate, Iowa Cubs games, Bowling, Golf Etiquette, Membership Drives and Brainstorming Events, just to name a few.

AYP Marketing Committee
Help us get the word out about AYP! This sub-committee is responsible for promoting AYP events. This is done by creating flyers and/or posters for our major events and distributing them around town. We have also recently redesigned our AYP logo and website. Whether you've got talent or creativity in this department, or you simply want to help us distribute these flyers, we'd love for you to join us. We meet on an as-needed basis.

AYP Scrapbook Committee
Attention all scrapbookers! Did you know AYP has a scrapbooking sub-committee? This committee meets periodically to update our AYP scrapbook with photos from the last few months' events. It has become a great way to show prospective members what AYP is all about!

AYP Leisure Activities Committee
Interested in different sporting events? This is the committee for you. AYP has a committee that gets teams together to participate in different games around the metro area. We have an annual softball tournament against the YP of Ames, we compete in the Golden Circle Games and set up teams for different activities in the area. If you want to participate in the sporting events or love to cheerlead this is a committee for you. 

AYP Annual Membership Drive Tailgate Committee
This is AYP's largest event of the year and we need your help! Each spring we host a tailgate lunch in the Chamber parking lot and invite anyone in the community to attend. Our goal is to gain new members. Last year was a huge success, with 75+ in attendance and 10 new members. The sub-committee is responsible for planning the menu, working the grill, and doing some heavy marketing for the event. Wanna be a part of making this year's' event an even bigger success?

Are you interested in joining the leadership team for AYP? We take applications annually, typically in October. A great way to get started on the road to a leadership position is by joining one of our sub-committees listed above.
