Annual Dinner Celebration

The Annual Dinner Celebration is an evening of socializing; celebrating the Chamber’s past year and of honoring the Outstanding Citizen, Small Business Person of the Year and Ambassador of the Year. The entire membership and employees are invited to celebrate.

Ankeny Business Expo  

The Ankeny Business Expo is a trade show for members to purchase booth space and share business information with the public make up this expo. The expo is designed for participants to share what their businesses have to offer, learn how to utilize other Chamber members' businesses and make great contacts. It is open to the public and will have door prizes, food and drinks.

Business 2 Business Forum

Business 2 Business Forum is exclusively for Chamber members. A round table forum designed to facilitate networking between members in a professional setting.

Business After Hours (BAH)

Business After Hours, a monthly Chamber event, brings members into your business after work to enjoy food and beverages and the chance to get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere. Usually held the second Thursday of the month (please note specific dates), BAH is the opportunity to showcase your business to other Chamber members.

Chamber Golf Open

This annual June golf outing is one of the largest in the area with over 300 golfers. This is a great opportunity to network with fellow members.

Chamber Membership Luncheons

All Chamber members are invited to attend the quarterly Membership Luncheons which offer networking and an update on Chamber activities and programs. Luncheons are held at Ankeny Golf and Country Club with networking at 11:30 AM, lunch at 11:45 AM, program at Noon and networking after the program. *Spring Membership Luncheon is Wednesday, April 22; the program is "Connecting People Through Recreation" with Todd Redenius, director of the City of Ankeny's Parks and Recreation Department. *Summer Membership Luncheon is on Wednesday, August 26; the program is the "State of Public Education in Ankeny" with Dr. Matthew Wendt, superintendent of the Ankeny Community School District. *Fall Membership Luncheon is on Wednesday, October 21; the program is "The Greater Des Moines Partnership's Role in the Ankeny Area Chamber and the Ankeny Business Community" presented by the partnership's staff.

Chamber Orientation Receptions

This monthly reception, hosted by the Chamber's Ambassadors, welcomes new members to the organization and introduces them to Chamber programs available, to the many ways to get involved and to other new members and Ambassadors. Members wanting more information or an update on the Chamber are welcome also. Receptions are usually the second Wednesday at noon with a light lunch or 4:45 PM with appetizers.

Christmas Luncheon

The annual community luncheon is held in December for Chamber members, employees and the community.

Legislative Coffees

Legislative Coffees are held monthly during the legislative session at the dining room of the Neveln Center. Chamber members and the community are invited to join Iowa State Senator Larry Noble, Iowa State Representative Kevin Koester and Polk County Supervisor E.J. Giovannetti in timely updates. In addition to information from each, audience members have the opportunity to ask questions of these elected officials. Attendance is usually between 50 to 75 interested citizens.

Public Forums

Public Forums are held for the community prior to the elections for school board, city council, mayor, county supervisor and legislature. Forums are held at Northview Middle School's lunchroom and offer the candidates a platform to share their views. Questions are prepared through the Chamber's Public Affairs Committee and also submitted by audience members that evening. Attendance varies depending on the number of candidates and issues of the day; generally attendance is between 50 and 100 citizens.

SummerFest

Be a part of the Ankeny SummerFest, the annual four-day community celebration, organizational committee. Committee meets in the evening starting late winter and continues up to the event. Ankeny SummerFest is held the second weekend of July, with events held Thursday through Sunday and a firework finale. www.ankenysummerfest.org

TASTE of Ankeny

This annual Chamber event showcases our Ankeny Area Chamber restaurants, caterers and beverage distributors to the community and metro area. Booth space will be available for participants to show case menu items. Meets monthly July through November.

Total Resource Campaign

The TRC (held late January through mid-March) develops leadership and financial resources of the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce through a six-week, all-volunteer campaign to attract new members and secure business sponsors for Chamber programs, events, electronic media and publications. Offer the opportunity to market businesses in one of the most visible events and organizations in the Ankeny area

  • Improve or develop your sales and presentation skills
  • Become knowledgeable about the important work of the Chamber
  • Impact community initiatives
  • Be rewarded with recognition and by assisting area businesses– all while having fun!
